It's the time of year to commemorate the natural disaster and nuclear catastrophe in Fukushima. This event has been the only day I get into Miyazaki city and enjoy the plaza in front of the station's West Entrance. It's nice. The event is awesome in a low-key way: great music, great dance, nice kids, sweet people... I took a Jewish Apple Cake (and an extra third) sliced and a box of tissues to make the hand-offs hygenic (more or less..) There were so many people there doing good things that I ran out of cake before some of the old friends arrived. Gonna have to make another batch this year and go visit people, I guess.

I got the same feeling as from the big organic festas and similar smaller events. The kids seem like they are enjoying themselves, the contribute, they play and tend to be fun and witty.. It always gets me thinking of "A Modest Utopia", an essay by Paul Goodman. "All I really want" (apologies to Cindi Lauper) is happy healthy kids running around, safe.. It's enough to make you feel like Kurt Vonnegut and his uncle to stop and notice "isn't this nice" or as my Dad says "It doesn't get any better than this"...
