I find the paper "Arguments from Ignorance, Coverage, and Bubbles" by Patrick Bondy in the latest issue of Informal Logic very useful.

In practice "ignorance" is much more important than "epistemological virtue".

Pursuing Reason | Windsor Studies in Argumentation

Leo Groarke has revised his SEP-entry on Informal Logic, https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/logic-informal/

The 2019 WSIA-volume on Informal Logic mentioned at the introduction is a nice additional resource, https://windsor.scholarsportal.info/omp/index.php/wsia/catalog/book/123, and the Journal Informal Logic offers a glimpse of some current discussions, https://informallogic.ca/index.php/informal_logic

Groarke's entry provides a list of OIR's, https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/logic-informal/#Oth, including to the hilarious Arguer's Lexicon, https://web.colby.edu/arguerslexicon/, and some entries in the Bibliography are available online.

Uusi numero Informal Logic -journaalissa on ilmestynyt, https://informallogic.ca/index.php/informal_logic

Sisältää mm. pohdintaa false dilemman virheellisyydestä, argumenttien hyveteoreettisesta arvioinnista, syvistä erimielisyyksistä, selitysten justifioivuudesta sekä jatkoa keskusteluun argumenteilla argumentoinnista.

Pois-pääteltynä muistetaan päättelyvirheiden ja fiktion logiikkaa tutkinutta ja tietoteorian matematisoinnista haaveillutta John Woodsia.

@tg9541 I haven't checked the contents of the new IL-issue yet. Not sure when I can. One article, however, the one about argumentation and change of minds, brought to my mind a short comment I made to Catarina Dutilh Novaes's 2023 article with an almost identical title: https://mastodontti.fi/@lupposofi/110628576055189639

@[email protected] Food for thought, certainly, though somewhat depressing. Arguments begin to seem like scalpels, which can heal only after tedious preparations. I'm not comfortable with the SET-framework (too much "capitalism", play, and courtship), but promise to recheck at least the SEP-entry on Trust, https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/trust/. And of course the whole SEA-project interests a retired professional wonderer even without social rewards. 😉 #argument #epistemology #philosophy

The latest issue of #InformalLogic presents several articles dealing with "argument" at the boundary of logic, psychology and sociology.

This is of interest to anyone working in a community of knowledge, or on the matter of "truth" in the social.

Thanks to @Lupposofi for pointing me to the journal. Subscription is free.
