Agreed. It’s one thing for a family to save pennies in order to help the kids set themselves up in adulthood and quite another for wealth to be hoarded by anti-social and privileged classes in minorities. The levels of #inequity in evidence everywhere is egregious with its only outcome is likely an eminent collapse of society.

Is there hope in the struggles? I’d like to think so. But at what cost?

This is an interesting video and it's hard to argue with the priorities expressed in it. Castro asks simple questions, and they demand direct answers. Now, almost fifty years later, they're as relevant as they ever were.

I wanted to do alt text for the video without typing it out manually, and I found that this is a fairly brief excerpt, and it misses a bunch of the content. Even the parts that included are mildly edited down.

It was next to impossible finding the text online. In today's world of easy access to data, why is it so hard to find the text of an important UN speech from a noted world leader?

Anyway, I found the text here:

https://dataverse.tdl.org/file.xhtml?fileId=55109&version=2.0

It's possible to download a zip file of that whole archive, and that might be the more reasonable way to get at this data.

Anyway, here's the video. If anyone has found the entire video, un-edited, I'd love to see it.

For a moment yesterday, #ElonMusk wealth hit $500 billion - the first person ever to reach that number. Remember the great comparison for context: a million seconds is 11.5 days, a billion seconds is nearly 32 years. Uh-huh. And #Musk has almost half a trillion dollars, and is poised with his proposed #Tesla compensation package to go much, much higher. Over a trillion perhaps. Using the same comparison, if one million is 11.5 days, a trillion is 31,700 years. Let that sink in. A number so big it’s hard to imagine. This is sick, disgusting on every level. If there ever was a posterboi for #TaxTheRich it’s #Elon. The #oligarchy is not only alive and well, it’s thriving - at OUR EXPENSE. #wealth #inequity
