#Canada is amending regulations on how it manages state-owned #TransMountain #OilPipeline in order to facilitate its sale to #IndigenousGroups, according to official government notice published Weds.

Ottawa plans to sell the #pipeline now that it is complete & wants to enable #Indigenous communities along the route to buy a stake.

Interior Secretary Deb Haaland: new #OilAndGas #leases will not be permitted on #publiclands in and around the #ChacoCanyon National Historical #Park in New Mexico. The ban will be in effect for 20 years but only affects new leases. It comes after decades of #organizing by #Indigenousgroups, which consider Chaco Canyon a #sacred site.
