Made with good skills & i guess good ingredients Fermented batter, deep fried & then soaked in sugar syrup

Personally, I, prefer these crisp thin stemmed ones over the balloony, soggy ones

Jalebis seem to have mideast origins & are made from maida / refined wheat flour

A similar south indian orgin sweet is Jhangri or Imarti, eaten cold & made from urad dal ( black lentil)
