Endemic to the Western Ghats, this female Malabar Parakeet was flying and screeching along with 3 others in the flock. Finally they sat on a tree before flying off again to another one with flowers. You if happen to notice this bird with a red beak, then that guy is a male. #malabarparakeet #birds #birdwatching #endemicbirds #wildlife #photography #nature #indianbirds #WesternGhats

Made another version of the Golden Oriole (the colour pencil piece) I'd worked on last week but used water color this time. There's also pen + some parts with pencil color used for shading.

So I have been looking at vintage art to use as reference, and to help me try something new (in terms of the final result, media)

Here's an Indian Golden Oriole that I sketched with colour pencil, and then used black ink.

Look at the tail, flat at end and as you glance upwards, then its shape, a square like and hence the name Square-tailed Bulbul. When seen in bright light, its orangish beak and its crest are highlights of this bird. I rarely come across these beauties but when I do they are always seen high up on the tree, often with at least two more in the company. #squaretailedbulbul #birds #birdsofwesternghats #nature #wildlife #wildlifeconservation #indianbirds
Found in the tropical moist forests of Srilanka and India, this species can be identified with the shape of its tail, square shaped. And hence its name — Square-tailed bulbul. #nature #birds #birdwatching #indianbirds #wildlife

Ruddy Shelduck, a winter visitor to India while it breeds mainly in Europe. It can be found in waterbodies like lakes, reservoirs and rivers mainly in search of aquatic plants, algae and invertebrates to keep themselves alive.

The bird in this image is a female while males have a black collar. #birds #birdwatching #wetlands #wildlife #wildlifeconservation #nature #indianbirds
