Today's news has supported my fears of a so-called '#Independent ' party.
I quite liked Turnbull as a decent Liberal, but the fact he is getting involved should show you where this could lead. Look up the history of Allegra Spender's family. She comes from old UAP /Nationals stock.
Quote from wiki re Zali Steggall
'Steggall also opposed the changes to capital gains tax, franking credits, and negative gearing that were being proposed by the Labor opposition under Bill Shorten, and argued for lower taxes on small businesses."
I am not saying they are bad people but definitely lean to Right, even though #Teals were formed to basically fight for Renewables as opposed to fossil fuels. I supported #Climate200 and Teals came through that.
Two genuinely strong Independents, Monique Ryan and Helen Haines have refused to join a party as they stood as Independents and represent what their community wanted.
I am sorry David Pocock has leaned in to this party idea and abandoning genuine 'Independence'.
Nevertheless, if it happens I will be very interested in how they eventually vote and, more importantly, where each candidate or their new party, directs their preferences.
I also agree w @emmadavidson that the closest to my political feelings nowadays are the #Greens and they will be getting my primary vote from now on.
And all due respect Paul, to you personally, but think I have had enough of this discussion for now as I find it very, very depressing and frankly terrifying that Australia is heading down a fascist path and that hateful racist extremists are gaining strength worldwide. Nearly 85 yrs old now and have seen enough and know the history.
