Key hypothesis more or less stated at today's #Decidim Association #bbb meeting [1]:

Hypothesis: Much of the power of the #TrumpMuskRegime + recently elected neo-fascist parties comes from #ImplicitFeudalism in online governance [2], related to the #TyrannyOfStructurelessness [3][4]. Exceptions in #FOSS are #Debian + #Wikipedia [2].

"I believe that #implicitFeudalism is becoming a template for #politics more broadly. #AdminPower is political power, and the 2 are blending in the public imagination.
#Trump came to power not by holding office but as a viral #influencer; after leaving the presidency, his consolation was to start his own #socialmedia, #TruthSocial. Controlling his own server…lends him the status of a platform owner."

@ntnsndr Finished reading Governable Spaces yesterday on a flight and it's really gotten me thinking about how I can contribute to making a more democratic Internet :)

While Mastodon is great, it is still subject to the same implicit feudalism mechanisms as other social media (unless you're on a server such as social.coop which builds consensus decision-making into their structure).
