Reactive aldehydes enhance the antimicrobial effect of nitric oxide - possibly an explanation for the maintenance of ALDH2* in Asian populations.
Acetaldehyde doesn't work - so drinking alcohol won't help treat TB infection.
Warburg Effect - anaerobic glycolysis produces aldehydes (methylglyoxal) [22:12, 54:26].
