One difference between #antix and the others (#bodhilinux & #icefun) is, that it do not use systemd for init. Is this a good way to look for a solution?

I'm looking for a kids friendly #linux for my 6 & 4 yo children. I tried #Edubuntu and #IceFun, both with nice education programs. But now I realised that the desktop GUI (and not the OS itself) is an important factor:
Nice big icons
Big buttons 
Friendly colours
Does someone know a project that made something like this? Any suggestions (and/or boosts) are warmly welcome
