Queens communities have experienced high levels of ICE presence and kidnappings over the past few months. ICE has been regularly using TD Bank parking lots on Northern Blvd in Jackson Heights and other locations in order to stage their raids. Join us in protesting ICE's access to TD Bank parking lots on Saturday April 18th from 12pm-1pm. Location provided after you RSVP. Bring a sign or just your voice! We can no longer sit silently by while ICE conducts illegal kidnappings in our community. If you speak Spanish or Bangla we would love to have you join us as many people who pass by speak those languages. Thank you! JHI is committed to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Local Day Laborer Outreach · Mobilize

Every Tuesday and Thursday morning local volunteers build relationships with day laborers as allies, witnesses, neighbors, and friends. Please register for location details. We commit to showing up regularly with love and care. We build community locally (within 10-15 minutes of school, work, or home). We provide coffee and food, supplies that support work, and information on rights and resources, with personal follow-up for specific requests. We provide a friendly face and hope our presence increases community safety amid unlawful federal immigration activities. This training is for individuals and organizations–both to say no and resist and to build the public schools we deserve. We will cover what the authoritarian attacks we're facing right now are, the basics of grassroots organizing to fight those attacks. Rise and Resist: Immigration Vigil · Mobilize

We will be out in front of the federal workers' entrance at 26 Federal Plaza (Worth St.) conducting a silent vigil with signs calling out ICE and ICE Agents for abducting immigrants. 26 Federal Plaza has many DHS and ICE employees working there as well as the immigration courts. It is currently surrounded with police barricades, but the area we are planning to vigil in is open to pedestrians and therefore it is legal to protest there.
