The Rolling Stones recorded "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" on this day in 1965 at RCA Studios, Hollywood.
On May 10, the Stones recorded, and then abandoned, their first version of "Satisfaction" at the famed Chess Records studios in Chicago. Two days later, at RCA Studios in Los Angeles, the band gave the song a second shot, Richards added a Gibson Maestro Fuzz-Tone pedal, and a timeless classic was born.
Released June 6 in the U.S., the song sat atop the national charts a month later. For Stones fans then, and in subsequent generations, it remains one of the band's trademark songs, a gritty anthem of youthful frustration and celebration that has been a band and audience favorite ever since.
