I am participating in a Nuclear Science Symposium, part of the 2026 International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (#IUPAP) nuclear physics working group meeting.

The speaker for the #ElectronIonCollider, a new collider in the US, noted some of the physics portfolio planned for its ePIC experiment. It was heart-warming to see some work I did in 2021 highlighted in the talk.

We had fun doing that study. Nice to see it in the wild!

ICPE Medal Award: Call for nominations

The International Commission on Physics Education (C14) was established by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) in 1960 to promote the exchange of information and views among the members of the international scientific community in Physics Education. Today, IUPAP C14 invites physicists from all corners of the world and at all levels of education to apply for the ICPE Medal Award, which honours outstanding contributions to physics teaching that transcend national […]

The #dalton (symbol: Da), or #unifiedAtomicMassUnit (symbol: u), is a unit of mass defined as 1/12 of the mass of an #unbound neutral atom of #carbon12 in its nuclear and electronic #groundState and #atRest. It is a #nonSIUnitAcceptedForUseWithSI. The word "unified" emphasizes that the definition was accepted by both #IUPAP and #IUPAC. The #atomicMassConstant, denoted mu, is an atomic-scale reference mass, defined identically, but it is not a unit of mass.
