I was at a meeting in the #IUGG23 conference this year where a few participants expressed scepticism that the #OzoneHole was in fact healing. Sadly looks like they were right, at least this year...

Ozone hole goes large again

Measurements from the Copernicus Sentinel-5P satellite show that this year’s ozone hole over Antarctica is one of the biggest on record. The hole, which is what scientists call an β€˜ozone depleting area,’ reached a size of 26 million sq km on 16 September 2023. This is roughly three times the size of Brazil.

We're at the end of the beginning of #ClimateScience, now it's time to prepare for.the next phase.

Great talk by Veronica Tollenaar on #BlueIce areas in #Antarctica that somehow manages to unite meteorites, machine learning, satellite data and the impact of #ClimateChange ..

It turns out that warming temperatures help the #meteorites melt their way into the ice and be lost.
