Major challenge would be to reduce cost and speed up construction. Any new transmission line, almost independent of technology, takes about 15 years to get built, if built at all. Underwater #interconnectors somewhat faster, slightly less NIMBY, but more expensive.

Norway is extremely dependent on #hydroPower, around 90% of supply. That makes Norway vulnerable to rainfall variations. The 10% #windPower helps, but not sufficiently, so #interconnectors are crucial, at least until that wind share increases. On the other hand, an advantage of Norway's hydropower

Some good news...

OfGem has approved five new subsea interconnectors to share renewable electricity between the UK, Germany, Ireland and Northern Ireland, and eventually to Belgium and the Netherlands.

Now let's unpeg renewable electricity from gas prices in the UK. THAT would be efficient.
