TorbHaving icons in menus on macOS is a good idea. The problem is that in Tahoe we're seeing a bad execution of it. It has way too many icons, they're rendered in very thin strokes and are all devoid of colour.
Windows had this figured out back in Windows 2000. It had icons in *some* menu items, in a clear and legible style and they had colour.
This meant that in Windows 2000 you could orient yourself in menus based on the presence of icons (they sort of worked like “anchors” for your eyes) and between the icons you had both shape and color to guide your eye.

TheEJJ 🇨🇦I don’t necessarily love all of the new Microsoft Office icons as visual representations (looking at you Excel), but as icons and art, Microsoft is absolutely dunking on Apple about how to make Liquid Glass style icons look good.
It tells you all you need to know that I prefer looking at the current Outlook icon than Mail, or even Pages!
