Generally speaking the pursuit of creating "The European Union of Mistrust" isn't the way to go.

Sure, #governments have an urge for control in hypercomplex modern and chaotic #society. But just throwing #tech at it, is NOT the way, and will only backfire. Look only how much much 'safer' the world has become with all the advanced tech we already dumped into society, right?

If we want to build harmonious and peaceful societies that have the right conditions for #democracy to flourish, we better look at fostering social #cohesion between people. Focus on people's virtues, rather than assume vices in a distrust-first society.

"Distrust-first" is the environment of #hypercapitalism, where vices thrive and unfairly advantage people who wield them more.

#Trust is the currency that allows society to progress, and #trustworthiness is upon which it can stand.

@torgeros for sure! There is nothing I disagree with in what you say. It is just that there are many intricate forces and aspects to take into account where it comes to (F)OSS, 'world improvement', and transitioning to a society that is able to live sustainably with its environenment / has a future.

My general argument, I guess, is that we tend to dictate way too many virtues to the fact that something is (F)OSS. Software freedom is a great quality, but only one piece of a larger puzzle.

If we drop the towel after #WorkingInPublic until #ItsFoss we won't be able to let our work bring most benefit to society, in a direction beyond festering #hypercapitalism

🚸 RootCause of our wicked problems isn't #hypercapitalism. It's us, each and everyone one of us.

As long as we aren't able to #listen to the person next to us, act on best #decisions at microscale, well..

In our quest to solve #ClimateChange most people go no further in root cause analysis than "reduce carbon emissions".

I've always taken it up a notch on the stepping stones of #WickedProblems to say its #Hypercapitalism we must tackle.

Now deeper insight gleans. We 'deserve' these problems. Simply because we're incapable to do better at large scale. But moreover we fall short at smallest scale:

Just ended a short #MorkBorg campaign w/ wife using #Mythic #GME.

Nechrubel sent an emissary to consume the youthful Anthelia before the apocalypse, just to show humans there is no hope.
With the help of her brother and copies of her from time loops (?) we found and beat him in an epic meaningless fight in the middle of the apocalypse.

My wife character joined the loop to eternally suffer the apocalypse. Mine was sent to #CyBorg to be tortured by hopeless #hypercapitalism.

It was GLORIOUS!

For decades leftists have cheerfully called some especially troublesome developments in our society #LateStageCapitalism or post capitalism - acting like those developments were a sign that capitalism has run its course and we'd be freed from it soon.

I never understood that, as the natural successor to (hyper) capitalism is fascism, not socialism.
I wish I had been wrong.
