The roof of the Hut on Mound was made from card pieces.

That includes separate, individually-placed tiles.

The whole thing just sits on top of the walls, nothing fancy.

More from the Hut on Mound...
...that, while it deserves it, probably won't get a proper name any time soon.

For the windows I used actual tissue paper, with wire (painted and then) glued on for support and then glued into the frames.

These windows work nicely with the LEDs inside, producing a nice glow.

Hut on Mound.
Scratchbuilt tabletop terrain piece in mostly card.

Based around a mound created from an old teatowel soaked in clay.

While working on some air-dry clay sculptures I ended up with this teatowel. Could have cleaned it, didn't.

Filled it with polystyrene foam off-cuts and formed a mound.

I then built the hut to fit the mound.
I also included working LED lights inside, sliding doors and a removable roof.

The mound of the hut on mound piece was made from an old tea-towel that had become soaked in clay (from another project).

Filled with foam off-cuts and left to set it formed the base that the rest of the model was built to match.

I used my usual basing techniques and materials giving areas of rock or mud, then some added plantlife finishes it off.

The steps are made from slabs of dental plaster.

Together with the removeable roof, the Hut on Mound also has sliding doors (which can also be removed if you like).

The furniture inside the Hut on Mound (yet to think up a better name) is covered in many trinkets.

While the small tables at the back are fixed in place, the large shelf unit is removable to make space.
This also allows a good look at the items on the shelves.

And a reminder that this is built at 28mm / 1:56 scale.

Some views around the side and back of the hut on mound.

The traditional paper windows are made from tissue paper with wire supports.

These add some nice diffusion to the installed lights.

You also get nice silhouettes of some of the things inside projected onto the windows.

More angles of the Hut on mound piece.

While most of the structure is made from card pieces, the steps up the mound are made from slabs of dental plaster.
