More Whale pictures.

We actually had the chance to see a Blue Whale. At least the back of it. It was only a boat length away. I was impressed how absolutely huge these animals are. I knew they are huge, but to see one just 30 meters away is an amazing experience.

The guide said It is absolutely rare to meet a Blue Whale on these tours and I tend to believe that :)

Also there were a lot more humpback whales.

One day we made a whale watching tour from the small harbor town of Húsavik. That day it rained. A lot. By far the most rainy day of our visit in Iceland. But the whale watching guys were prepared and we got these surprisingly heavy rain coats.

The tour itself was amazing. We saw a lot of Dolphins, multiple Humpback Whales, who really put on a show, and an actual Blue Whale, which is super rare on these tours.

Húsavík ist eines der kleinen Dörfer im Süden von Sandoy, gelegen an einer geschützten Bucht. Nur wenige Häuser bilden heute die Siedlung, die in der Vergangenheit noch deutlich lebhafter war. Traditionelle Gebäude, von Steinmauern umgeben, liegen zwischen den Schafweiden.

Der geothermale Goldfish Pond bei Húsavík ist einer der ungewöhnlichsten Badeorte Nordislands. Inmitten von Gras und sanften Hügeln lädt der flache, geothermisch beheizte Pool zum entspannten Baden ein – das Wasser bleibt dabei mit 20–30 °C angenehm frisch. Das Besondere: während ich im klaren Wasser schwimme, leisten mir Goldfische Gesellschaft – ein einzigartiges Erlebnis. Die ursprünglich ausgesetzten Haustiere haben hier eine der nördlichsten Goldfischpopulationen der Welt begründet.
