Niece Alison checked in with a lengthy sitrep. They live just up the hill from Biltmore Village which the flood waters savaged. Sarah and Alison have electric power, mobile service is returning. Internet is spotty. Heat is working. Water is out. They are schlepping potable water from a relative's home and bathing and doing laundry there.

Relief activities have been delivering food, water, and other essentials. They have food and veterinary medicines for their elderly dog. Dog reports being a bit put out by the whole deal but is holding her own. Still a bit off her feed.

Alison has lost her fall Bed and Breakfast business to the storm. Sarah's shop is flooded. Water damage etc. Orders on hold. Making progress on cleaning and sorting out water-damaged stock. Have lost most income. Alison's community garden job continues with their church. No mention of how long they could hold out for tourist economy to recover.

They're being brave troops.
