The state of Alabama has passed a law banning the use of phones in schools as of next year. My fediverse friends, we absolutely will not be following this law next year.
I need IDEAS IDEAS IDEAS on funny ways to circumvent, protest, or otherwise convince school administration to rethink this policy.
My current #1 plan is to bring my collection of ~15 phones to school with me to school. There are obviously many many ways to accomplish this task, and I'm willing to try (almost) all of them.
The theoretical punishment for failing to follow this law is a misdemeanor, which is the same as jaywalking, or illegally entering the United States.
My goal is to prove to the Alabama Department of Education that the use of cell phones in schools and classrooms is both not the solution they think it is to improve classroom performance, and not the most prevalent problem in Alabama school systems today. Keep in mind, they are treating phones as more dangerous than vapes, which is both unhelpful and backwards.
I believe the Department of Education needs to shift their focus not on the use of cellphones in schools, but onto the quality of the education in Alabama's schools. Alabama consistently ranks either lowest or second lowest in education in the country, and I can almost guarantee to you that it is not due to the usage of phones in class.
Help me accomplish this goal! Ideas for different methods of protest, circumvention, malicious compliance, etc. are all appreciated.

We're looking forward to serving our
#TennesseeValley / #RocketCity community by offering
free classes and trainings in #HarmReduction!
Thanks to Huntsville Bail Fund's partnership and sponsorship,
we're on our way to doing exactly that -- and more!
Our next training date is: Monday, May 12th, @2:00PM
While the class and boxes of #Naloxone are free, we
do ask that potential attendees use this sign-up form so
that we can plan accordingly, as we have a limit of 20

Thank you for taking an important step in community harm reduction! Rocket City Medic Collective is excited to offer free Naloxone (brand name Narcan), with training on administration, how to identify overdose symptoms, and what to expect after giving them the treatment. We have a limit of 20 people per class, but will be offering more in the future! Collecting the data in this form is to help ensure that Businesses and Organizations who requested the date of training can be in attendance together, while also ensuring the public still has an opportunity to learn from us. We look forward to working with you! Rocket City Medic Collective is fiscally sponsored by Huntsville Bail Fund, who is supplying the learning space as well as boxed Naloxone.

Ran into a friend who operates a Free Blockbuster in our neighborhood, and he gave me this tape that some anonymous ‘90s home recordist had left in there. Now I’m wondering if there is a dusty, forgotten Tascam 688 hiding within walking distance… #recdel
