Yrsa is bored: bored with her PhD program, her entitled students, and the never-ending pages of racial violence and feminist theory she has to read. But most of all, she’s bored with the men in her life—especially the bad ones.

And then, one sunny afternoon, she accidentally kills one.

Suddenly a p...

Everyone in this Bank is a Thief by Benjamin Stevenson

This is the fourth Earnest Cunningham book in the series. The books are set in Australia.

In this one, Earnest finds himself and his fiancé in a bank attempting to get a loan to help pay for their wedding. While there along with a handful of suspects, someone attempts to rob the bank. The doors are locked and everyone becomes a bargaining chip with the local police department. Wait until you find out what the robber wants. I won’t spoil it for you.

Unbeknownst to the robber, the President of the bank is unable to open the safe.

When Earnest eventually gets to meet with the President, it’s not a good time to ask for a loan but it is a good time for the President to ask Earnest to help him find his missing brother who has changed the combination to the safe. Earnest has a reputation for solving murders.

All these books are silly. They are fun if you can abandon your disbelief. I think the most difficult thing to accept was how the robber died.

If you like a little slightly cozy mystery with characters you can both love and hate, this might be a good one for you to read. I would recommend reading the whole series from the beginning. There are things that happen that you might like to know.

I don’t think I have read all this series. I think I missed one. The author writes with a comfortable style that pulls you into the story. There are plenty of weird characters, including Earnest. I can’t say I rooted for Earnest, but I was curious enough to read it to the end to find out.
