It's a Dune Ecosystem Restoration Day each second Saturday. We went after the invasive lupin instead of beach grass this time. After, I took advantage of being in the dunes to have a different sort of walk for the day.

First day of a week of backpacking the King Range starting with a hike south on the #LostCoastTrail. Didn't even get to the designated wilderness on this day, but that was by design. https://valhikes.blogspot.com/2023/05/lost-coast-windy-point.html

Lost Coast: Windy Point

King Range National Conservation Area. A short day to start backpacking on the Lost Coast Trail including tidepooling.

It continued to be a moody day as I explored Mosley Island, part of the Cannibal Island Unit of the Eel River Wildlife Area. Details: https://valhikes.blogspot.com/2023/04/mosley-island.html

Mosley Island

Eel River Wilderness Area, Cannibal Island Unit. Having a look around the Loleta bottoms near the mouth of the Eel River and the sun wouldn't come out

Loleta Tunnel

Loleta, California. A short hike on a rails-to-trails route to visit one of the tunnels along the route.

Last #ThickTrunkTuesday, I got out into the #OldGrowthForests in #RedwoodNationalPark. #Hiking Berry Glen, I can stop by a waterfall at one end and famous redwood grove at the other with exceptional trees all along the way.
