You never know who you'll meet on the garden path.

Green Frogs are the most commonly seen species of frog at the Humber Arboretum. This particular amphibi-friend was making sure they were seen by sitting right in the middle of the path to the gazebo.

Eastern Cottontail rabbit skull.

Rabbits and other lagomorphs have an ID feature on their skulls that helps separate them from rodents - "rostral fenestration". This refers to the area of skull in front of the eye socket that looks like latticework.

This skull is one of the many objects on display inside the Centre for Urban Ecology.

Two-Eyed Land-Based Play and Co-Learning is part of Humber College's Early Childhood Education program. We like to think it's the same Great Blue Heron who hangs around the Centre for Urban Ecology ponds each summer, delighting visitors and day campers alike. And if it is, they're back!

Helped out at a rock painting event at @humberarb today. This was my contribution. (Crayfish make other people happy too, right?)

It's patchy goldfinch time in #Toronto ! American Goldfinches are a fairly drab brown colour during the winter months, but adults turn a vibrant yellow during the spring and summer, with the males developing a solid black cap as well. Of course birds can't change their feathers all at once, so during the early spring the goldfinches go through a transition period.
