Today, another Humber Sceptre, the successor model to yesterday’s car, which was based on the Hillman Super Minx. This later version, sold between 1967 and 1976, was part of the Rootes Group Arrow range, of which the main variant was the Hillman Hunter. Note the vinyl roof, the special grille and wheel trims, and the double headlamps. Seen at The Great British Car Journey collection in 2023.

Today, a lovely Humber Sceptre from this year’s Practical Classics resto show. Humber is a distinguished but now defunct British marque, once part of the Rootes Group. By the 1960s, Humbers were mostly higher-trimmed rebadged Hillmans, in this case the Super Minx. The following generation of Sceptre, based on the Hillman Hunter, was the last Humber.
