It's Friday so as told by the prophecy I return with Scraps, my little human-curated #roundup of links to some great #blog posts and other interesting content. The #indieweb, the #humanweb and the #infosec & #sysadmin worlds collide in this week's Scraps: https://fyr.io/scrap/2025-07-25

We're six (6) editions deep with no signs of slowing down. Take a look if you wish. You might find something you like!

Scraps #6

A bunch of scrappy notes from 2025-07-18 to 2025-07-25

My weekly collection of cool stuff I've read on the web, Scraps, comes early today. We've got tic-tac-toe made with only CSS (as in, no html 🤯), some thoughts on LLMs, a way we can be better in the indieweb, an amazing in-progress technical reference manual and a whole bunch of other #indieweb #infosec #tech and more stuff to peruse. Some great stuff this week, #humanweb! Thanks for being awesome!

Does anyone know of any #indieweb #smallweb #humanweb oriented #podcasts, whether they're on hiatus, have ended or are still publishing now?
To celebrate the first anniversary of my website, I've written a "thank you"-letter to all the bloggers of the human web:

Special thanks again to @bojidar_bg for the birthday cake.

I'm looking forward to many more years on the personal web!

Against this light, the recent announcement of @EUCommission to invest billions in large #AI datacenters within the #EU is purely an investment into an arms race, and not one that directly serves the people.

An age-old dilemma maybe. Is the arms race needed, in order to stand a chance in a hostile world? Or is it only accelerating the cycle of doom?

What #EC CAN do, is finance the internet-we-need, besides doing the military AI dance. Have things go in parallel at least.

Towards #HumanWeb

The web used to be wild. It still is, but it needs more wild and less commercial algorithm based content and ai slop. Plant something - join the world wild web and watch it continue to grow.

“Friction, in the digital world, is important. Everything is already moving at a pace that’s not really compatible with the way humans work. We need digital speed bumps to remind us that going slow sometimes is preferable.” — Manuel Moreale

My crafter pub friend @BigEatie came out swinging with an excellent first post¹ on his brand new blog. I love it when tech folks share their other interests and they intersect and enhance it with FOSS. I learned some cool things about chess. Thanks for sharing!

If anyone is on the fence about blogging and sharing your hobbies, please do! Take back the open and human web!
