🌊 Did you know your nose can detect some scents at concentrations as low as one drop in 20 Olympic pools? Under controlled conditions, humans perceive certain odorants in parts per trillion ranges, making our olfactory abilities remarkably precise instruments for molecular detection.

✍️ The full article in the original post traces how these detection powers connect to memory pathways that bypass usual brain processing routes.

MIT: 3D modeling you can feel. “Fundamental to the uniqueness of physical objects are their tactile properties, such as roughness, bumpiness, or the feel of materials like wood or stone. Existing modeling methods often require advanced computer-aided design expertise and rarely support tactile feedback that can be crucial for how we perceive and interact with the physical world. With that in […]

Exciting new research shows that our sense of smell is much faster and more sensitive than once believed! Scientists found that humans can detect tiny changes in odors within just milliseconds, challenging the idea that our noses are less precise than other senses. This discovery could revolutionize how we understand scent and its impact on our daily lives!

We have more than five senses, according to a neuroscientist who explains the hidden abilities we often overlook. The article challenges the traditional view of human senses as touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste, and introduces other senses such as balance, temperature, pain and time. The article also explores how our senses interact and influence each other, and how they shape our perception of reality.

@DrKarrSchmidt Humans have, at a minimum, 30 senses, and quite possibly about twice that many. This oft-repeated "five senses" trope is simply not true. I believe it originates with Aristotle, because he liked the number 5. (Just as Newton added an extra purple to his rainbow because he held the number 7 to be sacred).
