Today is #HumanRightsDay, which is held every year on December 10. Why that date? To commemorate the #UnitedNations' proclamation, on December 10, 1948, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (#UDHR).

On this day, and every day, we pray that the government of #China will start respecting the rights of the #Uyghurs living within its borders. Until that happens, we will continue protesting each month outside the Chinese embassy in #WashingtonDC.

Today is Human Rights Day, celebrating the UN proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

While undoubtedly all Articles within are deeply important, Article 12 states;

“No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.”

As our lives move increasingly online, protecting human rights means protecting digital rights.

From privacy and free expression to transparency and accountability, the foundations of democracy depend on how technology is built and governed.

On this Human Rights Day, we reaffirm that digital rights are human rights, and they must be defended.
