This month I wanted something short for #StandardEbooksBookClub as I'm still ploughing through #HugoAwards reading, so I'm going with The Walls of Jericho by Rudolph Fisher, one of the significant literary figures of the Harlem Renaissance (more on the author here: https://theamericanscholar.org/renaissance-man/).

That's where I land, and I'm genuinely curious whether I'm wrong. Does a single Best Novel category still serve the field, or has it outlived its use? Where would you file the genre-benders? I want to hear the case against this as much as the case for it. #HugoAwards #NebulaAwards
Really enjoyed the novella The Apologists by Tade Thompson. If you like London, murder investigations, timey-wimey stuff, and mugs that say FUCK OFF I’M READING then you should definitely read this. Free to read online (and technically counts as #HugoAwards reading too as it’s included in Neil Clarke’s editor packet) https://clarkesworldmagazine.com/thompson_11_25/

Have any Hugo Voters on here gotten approved for A Drop of Corruption through the Netgalley link? I hate NG as distribution for voter packet materials because it tanks my review % when I don't review them, but at least in the past all the links were for immediate download, not to just request the title and hope for the best.
#HugoAwards #SFF

tbh Ada Palmer's Inventing the Renaissance being nominated to Best Related Work Hugo is a bit of a stretch, since it's a pop-history book without much of a connection to SFF beyond the author herself.

But then again, it's a great read so I'm not gonna complain about it being in the voter packet.

Finished my #StandardEbooksBookClub read, now on to novella reading for the #HugoAwards.
Finished The Incandescent for my #HugoAwards reading and I enjoyed the moment I moment, but not sure about the overall structure.
