Just learned something from Paul Wheaton (Permaculture guy) that makes a lot sense about building #Hugelkultur beds. Don't put the wood in a trench, cut trenches on sides of wood & put soil from the trench on the pile. The trench becomes a walking path. And serves as a flood control mechanism 🥳 1/2

Finishing the build up and mulching of my #permaculture #hugelkultur and found this guy tucked into a hollow bit of rotted tree trunk. Encouraged him to move on to somewhere he won’t end up buried under a foot of topsoil.

Two #Hugelkultur beds built in past few weeks (the season here now is Autumn). The annual seedlings will be transplanted to the large hugelkultur in the Spring. Perennials into non-hugel beds in Spring. Dill will go into the small hugel. #permaculture #permacultura #foodsec garden #Uruguay UY

It's so cold, that the dandilions have closed up, and the bees, hungry and freezing ( 😢🐝), waiting for blossoms.

A cold Mother Goose sits alone and hungry, for 30 days, which limits my work, it's in my backyard..
So cold. I quit. I ran out of wood anyway. #Hügelkultur

Santiago threw rich soil from an old, mini-hugel bed through a seive & put the clean soil on the #Hugelkultur bed; placed banana trunks in a trench on one side & rocks around the rest of the base; & watered it. Nylon next to cover again like compost. #pernaculture garden culture #foodsec
