I finally got around to ordering a copy of House of Leaves. I've heard a lot of great things about it but I don't actually know what it's about. The book arrives Friday and I'm excited to give it a try

Saw #Backrooms over the weekend and absolutely loved it. Also think this is the closest we’ll ever get to a movie adaptation of #HouseofLeaves —the parallels are delightful, plentiful & I hope intentional. It’s just…the version with bright lighting!

I mostly want to be cremated when the time comes BUT I just realized I could have myself buried with a copy of House of Leaves in some super protective airtight housing so future alien anthropologists recognize it as a holy text and get all sorts of new ideas about human civilization.

Krakauer is very much a Navidson figure, an adventure journalist, his wife isn't happy about his dangerous treks though she's come to uneasily accept that this is who he is, and he's journeying though a liminal environment towards impending doom.
