Since we're on the theme of imprisonment, the story I have in this anthology is about someone trapped very uncomfortably between worlds. 😈 Thanks to @[email protected] for all his hard work on this. #HorrorWritersChat

As you stare at the bone, you realise you have only one tool for cutting, and that is the subdermal glass. Before you can carve with it, you must rub away that tissue of skin. #HorrorWritersChat

I'm very enchanted by horror where people are trapped in huge, almost unfathomable spaces... like House of Leaves or The Backrooms or even outer space. Because I think it reflects the truth that limitless options can act as a kind of prison, a cage of confusion. #HoŕrorWritersChat

I don't explore imprisonment much, of either the physical or metaphorical kind. Honestly, the physical (burial alive, solitary confinement) scares me far more. In Phengaris, souls are trapped by some kind of physical remnant of their once living being. #HorrorWritersChat

Hey! I'm Anna. I write mostly eco and cosmic horror. The Buried in The Magnus Archives, the idea of a realm of people forever trapped underground but not able to die, fills me with the most profound claustrophobia and horror. #HorrorWritersChat

Thanks, Eryn. My novella Phengaris is actually set in winter. But, as you can see from the cover, butterflies and a very queasy sort of rebirth are quite an important part of the story. payhip.com/b/58paC #HorrorWritersChat

Phengaris
I do. And I have a city of my own imagining, with a chequered history and a host of portals, which I am minded to write into painful being this spring. Maybe through short stories. #HorrorWritersChat

"Who was the man that ghosted you?" asked the green spearhead protruding from the bulb you'd planted in November. The very time 'that man' had turned up at your door with peonies. Ridiculous flowers, fitting for that silly name of his - "Tosh". You blurted it out without thinking. #HorrorWritersChat

And birdsong. I sometimes get up at 4am at the height of spring to listen. Absolute cacophony, it's like a sonic tsunami looming over you. And I know we all think it's pretty, but it essentially boils down to 'Come and ravish me senseless' or 'I'm going to peck your eyes out.' #HorrorWritersChat
I can see potential horror in all of those. But hear me out... blossom. Like how the hell is that appearing so quickly? Nature's jump scare. Also, the way it becomes fruit later in the year. Nobody's telling me that's not body horror. #HorrorWritersChat
