When your morals come from an authority, you can’t question that authority at all. Your sense of self doesn’t allow that. If the authority makes wrong decisions, does that mean your morals and ethics were wrong as well? Your inner stability would upend if the answer is yes. The solution is not to find an authority that is pure. The solution is to get your ethics from elsewhere.

I’ve spent enough time here to take a big breath and finally make my #introduction post. Here we go:

Veteran software developer. Celebrated 40 years of coding not too long ago. I’ve written in languages you’ve probably only heard of (not Lisp).
Systems thinker, noticer of patterns. Often in trouble for speaking up. Strong advocate for ethics in programming and letting the profession alone dictate methods.
Agree with Uncle Bob on Agile and Scrum. Researched LLMs, would not recommend.
