This evening, our local #transgender #advocacy group put on an incredibly moving #vigil in remembrance of the #ClubQ victims, and as a source of healing, strength, and resilience for our local #queer community. I was honored to play my #harp for this gathering (and thank you all for song suggestions earlier this week).
All the speakers' words touched me deeply, but I'd really like to share one in particular. I think a lot of folks will find solace in his words below, as I did:
"Things we can do to embolden and empower our queer community, using #HOPE as an acronym:
H - Hold on. Go to your rock (your faith, friends, family, found family, whatever girds you up).
O - Open. Stay open to opportunities to offer help, to use your talents and skills in the community, for learning, change, and resistance.
P - Praise others for who they are, for their contributions.
E - Embrace others, even when they are not like you. You never know what someone's going through or what their story is.
Hope wins like love wins." 🌈
