I'm a Drive-Away Dolls apologist and even I can't stand Honey Don't!. Look, say what you want about Drive-Away Dolls, but it had the audacity to be nuts and it had a story that knew what it was doing. All credit to the cast here; Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, and Chris Evans are throwing everything they've got into this. But the script is a meandering mess that seems incidental to anything that's going on. Honey Don’t is 90 minutes. It’s too short. There isn’t time to build backstories for the various plotlines and characters. Bizarre. It needed another hour, or to be a series on streaming.

With that said, parts of what we do get are excellent. Margaret Qualley is phenomenal, as you’d expect. We need more of her as this gumshoe character. Also, the director and editor obviously like her, as evidenced by the close-ups.

I enjoyed it. It could have been so much better. 7/10.

Happy days. Amazon Prime gave me a £5 voucher to use for renting or buying on the Prime Video Store.

So I rented Honey Don’t film for free, solving my dilemma about whether to rent or buy the film.
