making a Hyaluronic Acid gel at home is both a substantial cost saver, an enjoyably simple process, and facilitates the inevitable creation of more complex home laboratory engineered medications and cosmetics.
this is a ~2.5% w/v% mixture, which is just lovely on its own for boosting skin hydration, and can be mixed with other compounds for night or daytime skincare (glycolic acid, collagen peptides, aloe vera gel, so many possibilities!)
## Stuff Ya'd Need
- 1.22g Hyaluronic Acid 99% USP powder
- 50ml Deionized H2O USP
### Mixing Process
- Mix HA slowly into 50ml water, using light circular rotation, at room ambient temp
- Cover the mixing beaker or cap the media bottle
- A) If using a media bottle: agitate slightly aggressively for 30s on a one minute repeat cycle (until you get sick of doing so)
- B) If using a lab mixer: select 250ml borosilicate beaker + teflon spinner on a magnetic mixer, spin for sufficient time and RPM to allow a relaxed pace where you can ignore it while watching The Terminator on the lab's computer terminal until the solution becomes clear of clumps or bubbles.
