And first brew of my home pan-roasted med-light beans after degassing for almost 2 days.
Surprisingly it's actually not bad at all!

I hate trying to roast when I’ve got a cold. I’m a super taster so can often smell/taste the roast from the other side of the house. When I’m sick, my olfactory system is normal person and I don’t think I could cope.
It’s a little darker than I’d like, but it’ll do. (17 mins at 450 f in an air fryer).
And this, this is why I #roast my own #coffee at home #HomeRoaster #CoffeeNerd
(Forgive the cup, my regular one is dirty).
Green beans from #NosaFamilia in #PDX (Guatamala FSJM T1) at $9 per pound, roasted yesterday in my oven using a wire rack and the air roast function for 12 minutes.
2x Shots pulled in a #GaggiaClassic with 6 bar spring + PID, bottomless 58mm with 24 in and 2.5x yeild.
It is a goooood cup.
Current Crop Roasting Shop’s own Certified Q-Grader, Catherine Mansel, sits down with Stephen Burnett of Coffee Bean Corral to field questions from home coffee roasters and professionals alike about roasting, tasting, and (most importantly) enjoying coffee...
Not my best or most even roast, and a little darker than usual, but I found my usual time wasn’t dark enough so…
Oft… That was CLOSE!
Been really busy today with garden and forgot I was running low on coffee…
Imagine if I hadn’t just done the dishes and noticed…. And then started yesterday as “Normal”.
Next up, the coffee making. Ground to my usual spec, packed and WDT, then tamped and brewed using the 22g in, 44g out in 20 seconds at 97ºC. Sadly, it was a little fast on the first extraction, but it looked amazing.
And of course, it tastes divine. Once you've learned to roast your own coffee... everything else tastes terrible.
Given that the weather isn't compatible with @BeanieCam coming to work today (and thus they're working remotely from home), I forgive myself for the amount of time this coffee took to make. And since it's just M and I working today (@pyoor doesn't work Wednesdays and @erin_etc is having her day off today), I figured... what... the... heck ;)
I love the first smell of the roast when green and the water is evaporating. I'm not a fan of the smells after, but they are pavlovian of goodness to be had.
It's roasting day with my roasting pup!
