augh just lost a promising holocure run because i got stuck on terrain i didn't see for one second too long. all graphics in this game use the same brightness and saturation, so it's really hard to notice that you're walking directly into an impenetrable palm tree when your eyes are focused on a different part of the screen.
it's a really good game and honestly one of the best survivor-type ones, but i really wish this particular issue wasn't a thing. it's still not in 1.0, so i do have hopes for this to be solved.
i did also visit the dreaded steam discussions to see if anyone else had that issue, and lo and behold there already are people being like "well ackshually it's part of the difficulty and good game design to have the environment also be an obstacle!". yeah when it's fucking done right. it's not done right if i can't tell apart what is and what isn't a wall at a glance.

HoloCure is so good wtf. i wish i tried it sooner.
i was originally put off by the fact that i "won't get any of the references, i don't watch hololive, i don't know the lore!". but after playing it i can confidently say: you don't need to know anything about hololive to enjoy this game and have full understanding of its mechanics.
speaking of mechanics - it's got some interesting systems that do make it stand out among vampire-likes! for example, there's this "collab" system, where you can merge two max-level weapons into one super weapon with new unique attacks, and it's pretty fun trying to figure out which weapons can collab with what.
also, each item category actually has a use! you can try going for a "glass cannon" build and not take any items that boost your survivability, but you'll regret it later on. and, vice versa, you can't go too hard into survivability and utility while forgetting about damage. gotta keep a healthy balance!
and it very rarely lets you get to a point of "well i'm so op that i've basically won the game, gg". you can never get too confident. it always keeps you on your toes. especially on the final stage and the hard mode variations - these are like an entire puzzle to figure out the best approach for each character.
good game. can and will recommend. (it's free btw)
a friend caused me to get back into #HoloCure lol
apparently it's on 0.7 now rather than 0.6
also Hakos Baelz's personal skills got reworked; one of them no longer causes a dip in attack power apparently. i wonder if her base attack power was lowered to compensate?
