Technology Development and Service Unit “#FibreFabrication and Glass Studio”
Hollow glass fibers can guide light faster than conventional glass fibers, because most of the light travels through air rather than glass, which is an advantage for datacenters. Computer simulations here show how light is distributed across the fiber’s cross section. The hollow core is about 50 micrometers wide.
