FFmpeg 8.1 codename "Hoare" was released a few days ago. Sir Tony Hoare (1934–2026) was a towering British computer scientist known for inventing the Quicksort algorithm (1959) and developing Hoare logic, a foundational axiomatic system for verifying program correctness. A Turing Award winner, he also pioneered concurrent computing with Communicating Sequential Processes.
