We will be restoring normality just as soon as we are sure what is normal anyway.

"Trillian did a little research in the ship's copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It had some advice to offer on drunkenness. 'Go to it,' it said, 'and good luck.'" #hitchhikersguidetothegalaxy #bali #vacation

I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

#scribesandmakers March 23. Do you consider yourself a frood who knows where their towel is?

Wolf laughs at the reference. HHGttG! In one WIP where the MCs are off on adventures to a new star, yes, they are definitely cool & know where their towel is and they use it well. The ships are very efficient in slipping between stars. As for the other WIP characters, they got some frood about them, but sometimes they can't predict what's coming, and as for how well the towel works, the Dream hild many surprises.

A quotation from Douglas Adams

“Life,” he said, “is like a grapefruit.”
   “Er, how so?”
“Well, it’s sort of orangey-yellow and dimpled on the outside, wet and squidgy in the middle. It’s got pips inside, too. Oh, and some people have half a one for breakfast.”

Douglas Adams (1952-2001) English author, humorist, screenwriter
Hitchhiker’s Guide No. 4, So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish, ch. 23 (1984)

A quotation from Douglas Adams

He gazed keenly into the distance and looked as if he would quite like the wind to blow his hair back dramatically at that point, but the wind was busy fooling around with some leaves a little way off.

The first ten million years were the worst, and the second ten million years, they were the worst too. The third ten million years I didn't enjoy at all.

« I always thought that about the Garden of Eden story,’ said Ford.
‘Eh?’
‘Garden of Eden. Tree. Apple. That bit, remember?’
‘Yes of course I do.’
‘Your God person puts an apple tree in the middle of a garden and says, “Do what you like guys, oh, but don’t eat the apple.” Surprise surprise, they eat it and he leaps out from behind a bush shouting, “Gotcha.” It wouldn’t have made any difference if they hadn’t eaten it.’
‘Why not?’
‘Because if you’re dealing with somebody who has the sort of mentality which likes leaving hats on the pavement with bricks under them you know perfectly well they won’t give up. They’ll get you in the end. »
