Thou Shall Not Pray for Peace: The Bombing of Iran and the U.S.-Mexico Border

A few days after the United States launched Operation Epic Fury in Iran, the Border Patrol changed its policy on visits to the border wall, denying a church group permission to pray there, “for their own safety.”

The Border Chronicle
@arrichavez @cjoshua2118 I like to think of history as an ongoing process, rather than as a finished product, for these reasons. And, this is another case that shows us why it's crucial to search for all perspectives and voices when studying the past. We never get the full story just by looking at official records or sources from those in positions of authority. People on the ground in the borderlands made the daily decisions that shaped the region's history. #Hist416
@arrichavez Absolutely! This is one of the things about ¡Migra! that is most striking to me. Working in already-catalogued archives can be a huge undertaking Hernández also helped to catalog a new set of archival materials as she did her research! #Hist416
@acabrera1 I agree with this, and think it is crucial for border historians to consult sources from both sides of the international boundary. Why do you think that using sources from both nations is so important? #Hist416
#hist416 Overall, it gives a better understanding of how history still impacts border issues we see today.
#hist416 It shows how enforcement practices developed differently in different areas along the border
#hist416 The book helped me see how immigration policies were tied to economic needs, especially in agriculture
#hist416 I liked how Hernández used sources from both the U.S. and Mexico to give a more complete history.
#hist416 The book shows immigration enforcement was not always consistent and often changed depending on the time period, just like any political agenda on BOTH sides
#hist416 It highlights how early Border Patrol agents had little training, which affected how enforcement was carried out. luckily they have better training today.
