To concerns over the Ethiopian crisis, the constitutional reform, reelection of #Jubaland leader/president Madobe, is indeed added a civil #war for the control of Gedo.

This has in turn allowed for the unionist #Dhulbahante militia to rejoin #Somalia as the “Northeast” state (July). Besides a baroque offer for control of Berbera port and airport (in #Somaliland), Bosaso port (in #Puntland) and Baledogle airbase (in #Hirshabelle), formulated by president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in March, the integration of #SSC-Khatumo as “Northeast” allowed him to invite #US companies to drill #oil in the area.

- Conflicts between Mogadiscio and #Jubaland and Southwest are currently mediated respectively by #Kenya and #Turkey. The rift is deepening with #Puntland however, as the region introduced its own currency. Meanwhile, Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud hopes to end a conflict between the region of #Hirshabelle and its #Hiraan district.
