National's budget will announce more cuts to the civil service, as if all departments haven't been pared to the bone already.

Chris Hipkins was just quoted on Morning Report as saying Labour could work with National on that, because AI can replace people.

Following last week's offer to work with National on infrastructure, the subservient leader of the opposition seems intent on cosying up with the devil and in the process, moving Labour to the right. And he's swallowed the AI-infused coolaid.

I'm old enough to remember when Labour would have unreservedly stood up for people and jobs, simply because it was the morally correct thing to do.

Chris Hipkins pops up after a long absence and claims National are not prepared for the incoming oil shock.

Given the IMF's warning that the fuel crisis is likely to lead to a global recession, Hipkins seems close to the mark.

Luxon responded, that was why the government was "focused on avoiding the mistakes seen during the Covid response."

Pardon? Is this somehow Labour's fault?

It seems bizarre that Luxon isn't considering options like carless days and working from home, as many other countries are already doing. Especially when NZ is right at the far end of the supply chain.

---

Please... take a moment to appreciate this classic gobbledygook from Luxon as he tries to think on his feet.

"What I agree with is we want this resolved as quickly as possible. We want the parties negotiating, I know ceasefire negotiations, you know, we want ceasefire will remain holding, we want the parties negotiating a negotiated settlement."

It's embarrassing that this inadequate man leads our country.

Govt looks 'increasingly unprepared' on fuel: Hipkins

Labour is accusing the government of looking "increasingly unprepared" when it comes to the country's fuel stocks.

Otago Daily Times Online News

I don't understand why Labour is sticking with NZ's least effective political leader. When he does hit the headlines it's in the Woman's Weekly instead of serious media. We hear plenty about him leaving his wife and kids and marrying his floozie and the subsequent fallout from that mess.

But no policy. No passion. No soul.

Chippy lost the last election and he can easily do it again.

Can Chris Hipkins just hurry up and resign? He's a visionless and ineffective leader in the best of times, and having what must be serious allegations attached to him makes him toxic. Not resigning at this point is placing vulnerable people in danger by making a defeat of the ruling coalition far less possible.

Hipkins, please, do one decent thing in your career, and step down.

I dont want to know about #Hipkins getting married. I don't want to see #Luxon in his pajamas. It's like when you were a kid and ran into your teacher at the supermarket.
#NZPol

It seems #Luxon is becoming more and more desperate to distract #NZMedia and the #NZPol public away from his own government's catastrophic failures and somehow try to blame their ineptitude on Labour. Luxon is so bad at this it's like he's morphing into NZ's very own Temu Trump,

Why would f**kin #Hipkins be releasing Labour's election policies 16 months away from the next election Mr #Luxon?

Luxon snaps back at 'frickin' Chris Hipkins over National's FamilyBoost 'flop' | RNZ

YouTube

Hipkins' "State of the Nation" speech was disappointing on so many levels. This was his chance to shine, but instead we got no wealth tax, no CGT and a vague promise that he wouldn't roll back most of National's worst legislation.

Hiding in a cupboard for over a year has paid off for Hipkins and he's leading the preferred PM stakes by default. Yet the best he can offer is 'Labour will be the same, but different'?

What does Hipkins even stand for?

Simon Wilson: "Come on Chris Hipkins, it’s time to step up or step aside "

"What the hell, Chippy? Do you want to win the next election or not? Enough with the introspective fretting for you and your party, it’s time to step up or step aside. The people who don’t like this Government deserve better. The people who do like it deserve, for a well-functioning democracy, a strong Opposition."

It's time to roll Chippy. .

Opinion: It's time for Labour leader Chris Hipkins to stand up or stand aside.

@esoterica

I think #Hipkins’ observation that #Luxon is always having to put people, businesses and the country down to make himself look good was 💯🎯

I am very doubtful Luxon has the intellect to appreciate the level of mediocrity he represents.
