Continuing Hip Hop Appreciation Week, this year's focus is on the Emcee:

With KRS-One's "Miracle" yet what a thing to see!

The Bandcamp link:

Has a typo, I'm pretty sure it's spelled correctly on the CD!

"Mircale"? Nah, "Miracle" truly.

Typos aren't the be all end all, but an absurdity.

Most, presumably?

Know a harder edge side of Lil Debbie.

Yet here she is with Stacy Barthe with a message of positivity:

So while in her repertoire this is a rarity.

It shows some versatility.

With her as an Emcee.

In continuing the annual Hip Hop Appreciation Week focused on the Emcee:

Here's "Let the Rhythm Just" with Ayla Nereo, Mr. Lif and The Polish Ambassador roundin out the collaboration of 3

As Minister Sun-One suggested in
the recent call to action, deejays should focus on conscious Emcees this week.

So at least personally, I'm being mindful of the kind of words which they speak.

I'll be honest the so-called repetitive "beat" in trap and drill?
To me is worse than boring, and auto tune overused like this tends to lack much thrill.
So I am not one to strongly recommend this, but their emcees' flow is chill:

It's more about raisin attention outside of Japan.
That there are emcees who are active, though for me: 9sari Group is perhaps the biggest crew to stan?

A lot of them seem caught up in a contemporary malaise.
Not reppin Hip Hop roots, lost in a derivative gansta rap daze.
It's not that Japan doesn't have excellent deejays!

Hip Hop on the whole.
Seems to have lost acclaim for the role:

Of a true turntablist.
Those who elevate deejayin beyond puttin on a disc or curatin a playlist.

This year we are approaching the 25th annual Hip Hop Appreciation week May 15th ー May 21st, 2023.
As I shared earlier, the theme this year is the emcee.

So, the idea is to encourage more of a conscious rap sort of vibe.
So for at least one week, I will hopefully continue to focus on some emcees who may be a bit more obscure, maybe outside of your more mainstream tribe.
