Final day of the Lechquellenrunde and we jumped at the chance for another summit ascent. From Biberacher Hütte we hiked up to the Hochkünzelspitze before descending down into the valley and ending another multi-day hut trekking tour.

Duration: 8 hours and 15 minutes (including 3 hours of breaks)
Length: 10.5 km
Elevation: 1090 m to 2397 m
Ascent/Descent: 590 m ↑ and 1340 m ↓

Intervento di soccorso nel tardo pomeriggio di giovedì sulle alte Madonie, in provincia di Palermo. La Centrale Operativa 118 Palermo-Trapani ha attivato il Servizio Regionale Sicilia del Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico Siciliano (CNSAS) per una escursionista di nazionalità polacca di 25 anni, partita da Castelbuono e rimasta bloccata in un’area innevata.
La giovane, disorientata e in difficoltà, ha lanciato l’allarme dopo essersi trovata in un impervio canalone caratterizzato da neve e fitta vegetazione.
Il recupero al buio tra neve e vegetazione
Immediatamente sono partite due squadre di tecnici del CNSAS: una da Petralia Sottana e una da Palermo. I soccorritori hanno individuato la ragazza al buio, infreddolita ma cosciente, all’interno del canalone.
Dopo una prima valutazione sanitaria sul posto, la giovane è stata recuperata verso monte e successivamente accompagnata a valle fino alla località Battaglietta, dove ad attenderla c’era un’ambulanza del 118. La 25enne è stata poi trasferita all’ospedale di Petralia Sottana per gli accertamenti sanitari.

Rescue operation in the late afternoon on Thursday in the high Madonie, in the province of Palermo. The Palermo-Trapani 118 Operational Center activated the Regional Sicily Alpine and Speleological Rescue Service (CNSAS) for a 25-year-old Polish hiker who set off from Castelbuono and became stuck in a snowy area.

The young woman, disoriented and in difficulty, alerted rescuers after finding herself in a rugged gorge characterized by snow and dense vegetation.

Recovery in the dark among snow and vegetation
Two teams of CNSAS technicians immediately departed: one from Petralia Sottana and one from Palermo. The rescuers located the girl in the dark, cold but conscious, inside the gorge.

After a preliminary medical assessment on the spot, the young woman was recovered uphill and subsequently accompanied downhill to the Battaglietta location, where an 118 ambulance was waiting. The 25-year-old was then transferred to the Petralia Sottana hospital for medical examinations.

Day 5 of the Lechquellenrunde and actually the first time we could hike our way as planned.
The weather was kinda bad so we had a longer stopover at Obere Alpeschellen to escape the upcoming thunderstorm.
That was a nice possibility to become acquainted with some fellow hikers on the same route.
I'm going to post a short clip of the stopover in the comments (probably from my Mastodon account).

Duration: 6 hours and 10 minutes (including a 2 hour long break at Obere Alpeschellen)
