In stark contrast to some heritage railways who are going all-in on AI slop for their comms, the Foxfield Railway in Staffordshire UK has commissioned a #furry artist to make a new mascot for them and hired a composer for the introduction video as well!

My phone just “featured” this photo for some reason and it really brings me back, so have a looky: in June 2020 while the world was going a bit potty but the “Ring of Steel” wasn’t in place quite yet around Melbourne, I spent some time in Castlemaine volunteering on the track gang with the Victorian Goldfields Railway, helping them do some re-sleepering on the section of track where they share the rail corridor with V/Line during a V/Line Bendigo Line shutdown. Bloody cold dark mornings, but really fun times.

Homemade steam locomotive to haul tourists after 23-year passion build

After initially waking in a "cold sweat" over the enormity of what he had taken on, Ironbank's Glen Smythe can finally relax after finishing his homemade locomotive — although he still has the boiler to build.

Model railway? Nope, drone footage and some post-processing tilt shift: https://youtu.be/bOUlJhVT5kI
