On these voyages I try to make sure the ship itself is a feature of the photography. And why not. It's our home away from home. It's what makes such a journey possible. We step out into the wilderness for a few hours at a time, then return to the safety and comfort of our steel hull.

It's a little bit surreal.

I love the hues of the Kimberley bush. They are not loud or raucous, but gentle and earthy. I feel calm here.

Walking through scrub in search of rock art. I found myself spending more time with the flowers and butterflies. The art has been there for thousands of years, yet the butterflies are momentary visitors!

Sometimes the rock is the art. We were visiting a sneaky little Gwion Gwion art site and the light was dancing with the rocks. The folks who live up this way ask that people do not share images of the rock art itself, whether that be Wandjina or Gwion Gwion or other.

Rock Fig.

Most of my macro shots from this series are captured on the LUMIX S9 with a 100mm Macro, but this moment was with the G9II and 100-400mm telephoto instead. You can still get some lovely bokeh without a macro lens :)
