It was originally performed by #AudreyHepburn in the 1961 film #BreakfastAtTiffanys, winning an #AcademyAwardForBestOriginalSong. The song also won the 1962 #GrammyAwards for #RecordOfTheYear and #SongOfTheYear. In 1999, Mancini's recording was inducted into the #GrammyHallOfFame. The song has been recorded by many other artists. It became the theme song for #AndyWilliams.

The #eponymousCartoonCharacter created for the film's opening credits by #DavidDePatie and #FrizFreleng was animated in time to the tune. The #tenorSaxophone solo was played by #PlasJohnson.
