2018 Hei Zhuan Black Brick Heicha from MyTeaPal club. This is a type of compressed Anhua Heicha that is not inoculated with "Golden Flowers" (Eurotium cristatum). Slightly smoky, very similar flavor to a rustic raw puerh. Lots of stems in the tea. Still figuring out how to brew this super densely compressed tea. Definitely Heicha for Raw Puerh drinkers!

I've had a couple of different heicha this year that left a remarkable and unpleasant lingering sour aftertaste. Luckily these have been inexpensive samples. The quest goes on for The Right Tea At The Right Price.

I am trying out a bunch of huangpian. This is the Chapo Mid 2021, and it left me pleasantly surprised.

Malaysian stored "old liubao" from Teas We Like. Beautiful soup color. Leather, autumn forest floor, dried mushrooms. Zippy head based energy, pleasant tingling aftertaste.

"Dark Bamboo" - #HeiCha in the Anhua style [Spring '17, CLT]

There is some confusion with this tea origin: on the package it's stated "origin: Mengyou, Yunnan", while on the site it becomes one from Guangxi.
Yunnan borders with Guanxi region, but in terms of terroirs these are really different places (especially when exact locations are not mentioned).

Dry leaves smell is intense mushroomy - close to what you find in a cuisine under "wood ear" name.

"Golden Prosperity Pig Cometh" (or "The Golden Pig Arrives and Brings Prosperity" when the title translated literally, made in a year of Pig by Chinese Zodiac) Fu brick - #HeiCha from Gao Jia Shan, Anhua, Hunan [Harvest Spring '18, pressing '19, YS].

Producer also is named #GaoJiaShan, after the mountain.

Brewed in a teapot, but in a Western style - 2.5gr per 100ml/95C/180s. Also, for this tea I used harder water. Thus I got milder tasting liquor that underlines fruity notes
